You must be an Oregon resident between the ages of 17 and 25 years old, entering or currently enrolled in college or community college. You need to create an account on this website and apply for the scholarship. Select and complete an eligible wildfire awareness campaign activity. Upload photos or video and a one-page report (including a section on why the activity was important to you) to show you completed the campaign. When you complete all the action steps and verify your participation in a scholarship-eligible campaign, you’ll be entered for the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship.
Scholarship money is sent directly to the school of your choice. It can only be used on costs incurred directly from a post-high school, higher education program, for example, community college, college, university, or trade school, that are listed on the itemized tuition bill. Basically, anything that your post-high school institution directly charges you for is eligible to be covered by your Keep Oregon Green scholarship. This includes tuition, classes, activity fees, room/board, etc. We cannot send scholarship money directly to a student.
Scholarship winners are selected using predetermined judging criteria. Winners will be individually notified by email and will be required to respond to initial notification within 72 hours. Winners will typically be announced to the public 3-4 weeks after the close of the judging process. Be sure to review our Scholarship Contest Official Rules before submitting an application.

Volunteer credit hours

Create an account and join your fellow Oregonians in wildfire prevention and preparedness activities, all while earning volunteer credit hours and a signed certificate. These hours can fulfill volunteer or service-learning requirements for school. Help Oregon build more fire-adapted and connected communities. Here are the steps to earn hours:
- Create an account.
- Find an activity that’s eligible for volunteer credits on our Take Action page.
- Keep track of your hours and detail the work you did.
- Complete the campaign actions and upload a photo to prove your impact.
After your photo is approved by a staffer, head to your account page and download your certificate! The certificate includes:
- Your name
- The impact photo you submitted
- The name of the campaign you completed
- Details about the campaign
- Number of volunteer credit hours earned
- Date of completion
- A signature from a staffer that verifies your hours.
Yes. Please send them as PDFs for quicker signoff or email us ahead of time if using online verification systems. The volunteer organizer’s information is linked with each volunteer activity.
Approving completed campaigns can take up to two weeks though it’s usually faster. Once your hours are approved, we will email you when your certificate is ready to download from your account.
Internship information

You can earn college credit from an internship with Keep Oregon Green, but there are several conditions, rules, and exceptions that may come into play with your institution. Here are a few things you must first find out about if you can earn college credit with our non-profit Association:
Find Out If Your College Accepts Internship Credit
Not all colleges do. Before applying for an internship you must check with the department chair or your academic advisor to find out if your college accepts internship credit and what are the formalities involved.
Find out what internships are accepted: Most colleges require that an internship with credit must combine work experience with the relevant coursework. They might not accept internships that are clerical or mechanical, so make sure you understand all of the restrictions that apply.
Find Out How Many Hours You Must Work At the Internship
Different colleges have different requirements. Before participating in any internship, it is important to find out how many hours you need to work at your internship over the course of the semester. Also find out how many credits you will receive for those many hours.
Find Out How Many Internship Credits Your College Will Accept
Some colleges impose a limit on the number of internships they accept. This is to ensure that students leave some room for their mandatory academic courses. It would be a shame to put in additional hours only to learn later that your college will not accept the hours.
