About This Activity
Having a display table at a public event can be a great interactive opportunity to educate the public about fire prevention.
Volunteers can borrow Keep Oregon Green’s table display or create your own, including fire prevention handouts (publications and free tchotchkes), to conduct wildfire prevention outreach at a public event. This activity involves the set up, staffing and take-down of the display table.
The important part of this activity is making your table attractive enough to draw people in (statistics, maps, artwork). The next skill is communication: introduce yourself and talk to your visitors about wildfire prevention. People like free handouts or prizes that they can earn from games or quizzes.
When: spring, summer and fall months.
Top skills: public speaking, positivity, comfortable outdoors and in busy environments.
Service benefit: Volunteer credit is available
