THANK A WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER

THANK A WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER

About This Activity

Creating posters and sending letters to wildland firefighters signifies a strong connection between those working hard to put out the flames and those who are directly affected by wildfire in their communities. During large fire events, firefighters come to Oregon from all over the country (and the world) to protect lives and property. Letters of appreciation provide encouragement and gratitude to those who sacrifice so much. Whether it’s a simple note or a large piece of public artwork, the expression of support carries profound meaning for those hard at work in the field.

Research a current or recent wildfire that affected an Oregon community and the agencies or companies who were involved in suppressing the fire. Then put pen or paint to paper and share the love.

When: summer and fall months.
